Designed specifically for home ducted and commercial applications, these outdoor units operate on a two-pipe refrigerant system that enables seamless changeover between cooling and heating modes. With R410A refrigerant and inverter-driven compressor technology, this heat pump AC system provides year-round comfort across all operating conditions.

Energy performance and comfort

The Y-Series achieves superior energy efficiency through its inverter-driven compressor and optimised heat exchanger design. Improved EER and COP ratings across all single module configurations deliver measurable energy savings compared to previous models, with the 40 kW variant showing approximately 12% higher EER. The four-way air intake system positions heat exchangers near the fan outlet, maximising intake efficiency and heat transfer performance. The dual set point function enables separate temperature settings for cooling and heating modes, reducing unnecessary compressor.

Built for reliability and safety

A high-precision brushless DC motor, developed and manufactured by Mitsubishi Electric, underpins the Slim’s durability; in-house testing indicates more than seven years of use at 400 cycles per day. Reinforced front and rear panels enhance body strength, and hidden switches are positioned behind the fascia to deter tampering. For safety, the air intake is separated from the discharge nozzles to reduce water ingress, and high-voltage circuit boards are enclosed within a protective metal barrier to contain flames in the unlikely event of a fault.

Indoor unit compatibility and control options

The CITY MULTI Y-Series connects with the full range of Mitsubishi Electric commercial indoor units, including wall mounted, ducted, ceiling cassette, bulkhead and floor-standing configurations. Optimising system performance and minimising running costs requires appropriate control. Mitsubishi Electric provides extensive control options ranging from individual remote controllers to centralised systems such as the AE-200E and AT-50B controllers. These centralised controllers enable scheduling, energy monitoring and remote web access across multiple units, enhancing operational efficiency for large installations. Building management interfaces facilitate integration with third-party systems for unified facility control. Other advanced features are available via DIP switches or optional adapters, including Low noise model, COP Priority start-up and demand control.

Static fan pressure modifiable up to 80 Pa

The static pressure of the outdoor unit fan can be set between 0-30-60 and 80 Pa allowing the unit to be installed even in positions that require a ducting of the air expelled from the fan. There is no drop in capacity when 80 Pa External Static Pressure option is enabled.

City Multi YNW range offers reduced sound power levels, thanks to an improved compressor and fan design.

Offering complete flexibility to cope with different noise criteria for multiple applications, City Multi YNW offer 5 different incremental settings to vary noise output by limiting compressor frequency and condenser fan speed. These settings are directly configurable from the control board of the outdoor unit (optional PAC-SC36NA adapter required).

Maximum height difference increased up to 90 metres

Depending on the equipment selection and installation conditions some outdoor units can operate with vertical height difference of up to 90 metres between the outdoor unit and indoor units without requiring any optional kits. This allows for further simplicity and flexibility when designing for taller buildings.

An air-cooled heat pump AC system, such as the PUHY-(E)P200-1350-YNW, is designed to provide heating and cooling for indoor air across multiple zones. The outdoor unit uses its compressor(s) to produce superheated or subcooled refrigerant which is pumped to the indoor units to condition each space. The refrigerant returns to the condenser heat exchanger where outside air is used to reject heat in cooling operation) or cold in heating operation, before cycling back through the compressor, reducing the work needed to be done.

Similarly, a water-cooled heat pump uses central water plant to reject heat/cold from returned refrigerant to the condenser unit instead of outside air.

In contrast, a hot water heat pump is designed to generate hot water for domestic or commercial use, by transferring heat into a water storage system. Mitsubishi Electric offers a dedicated range of hot water heat pump systems tailored for hospitals, hotels, and other facilities that require high volumes of heated water.

This VRF AC and heat pump unit is suitable for a wide range of commercial applications, including restaurants, gymnasiums, car showrooms, office buildings, schools, and low-rise commercial developments. Its modular design, long piping capabilities, and quiet operation allow it to be installed flexibly in urban or space-limited environments.

The PUHY-(E)P200-1350-YNW is compatible with Mitsubishi Electric centralised controllers and can be integrated into third-party building management systems using BACnet and LonWorks protocols. This allows for detailed energy tracking, system scheduling, and centralised temperature control across multiple zones.
