FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

If you pour cold water into a cup, the air around it becomes cold, causing water droplets to form on the surface of the cup. The dehumidifier takes advantage of this phenomenon to remove moisture from the air.

The dehumidifier draws air from the room, and the cooling coil then cools the air, turning it into water droplets that fall into the water tank. Next, the re-heating coil heats the dehumidified air, which is blown out of the top of the unit as clean, dry air.

The amount of dehumidification you need depends on conditions in the room, such as a musty odour, damp spots, water beading or drying clothes. The damper the room, the higher the Moisture Removal Capacity (measured in litres removed per day) you will need.

The Mitsubishi Electric EV38HR Dehumidifier has a large Moisture Removal Capacity of up to 38 litres per day*.

*Room Temperature 30°C / Relative Humidity 80%

The dehumidification process reduces the humidity by condensing and removing moisture content from a room. A portable dehumidifier will warm the room and reduces relative humidity indirectly.

The size of a dehumidifier is rated by Moisture Removal Capacity and should be measured in litres of moisture removed in a 24 hour period. The more damp or humid a room is the higher the Moisture Removal Capacity you need.

How long you need to run a dehumidifier depends on how much moisture is in the air. The Mitsubishi Electric EV38HR Dehumidifier can be set to the desired humidity level of 50 to 70%, and automatically turns off/on to maintain that humidity level.

High humidity in the home can cause a musty smell, and trigger allergies and asthma from spores that mould produces. We look at the six reasons why you may need a dehumidifier in your home.

If your air conditioner can dehumidify your home, do you need both? Dehumidifiers can have many benefits around the home, especially if you live in areas of high humidity or, like much of Australia currently, high rainfall is causing moisture build-up within the home. But if you own an air conditioner, that can be as effective at dehumidification of a room as a dehumidifier. Why would you need a dehumidifier? We have asked the Mitsubishi Electric Technical Team for their advice.

It doesn’t matter where you live; high moisture levels in the form of humidity or condensation can be a problem in many homes. When moisture builds up in wardrobes, laundries or within your walls, it can cause annoying smells, damage your belongings, and even affect your health.

Read our tips on the five most important features to dehumidify your home.

The Mitsubishi Electric EV38HR Dehumidifier is designed to maintain a comfortable level of humidity in your home by removing excess moisture from the air. Some specific features of this Dehumidifier include the energy-efficient Inverter compressor which constantly adjusts the power and running speed according to the humidity level in the air; the Intelligent Laundry mode which estimates the laundry drying time and stops automatically; and the Air Purification mode.

The Mitsubishi Electric EV38HR Dehumidifier has a large Moisture Removal Capacity of up to 38 litres per day*.

*Room Temperature 30°C / Relative Humidity 80%

The Mitsubishi Electric EV38HR Dehumidifier has a Pre-Filter and two-layer PM2.5 Filter that helps to remove common fine particles and dust in the air.

The PM2.5 Filter has a two-layer structure consisting of a White Dust Filter and Blue Deodorising Filter. The fine mesh Filter can catch PM2.5 small particles and dust. The fibres contain a special deodorant and anti-bacterial agent.

  1. The unit draws air from the room, cools it with its cooling coil, causing the moisture in the air to transform into water droplets.
  2. The water droplets fall into the water tank.
  3. Dehumidified air is heated by the re-heating coil and then blown out.

The humidity in the room is reduced by repeating the above steps.

  10. Intelligent laundry mode controls the airflow rate while monitoring the humidity in the room, estimates the laundry drying time and stops automatically. Operation time is approximately 1 hour and can be up to 12 hours.

The Drying Inside operation is recommended after each use of the unit (approx. 1 hour). When continuous operation is being performed by continuous drainage, the Drying Inside operation should be used after every two weeks.

How to choose/position a dehumifier

The capacity determines how much moisture a Dehumidifier can remove per day in a room. Our EV38HR Dehumidifier has a large Moisture Removal Capacity of up to 38 litres per day*, suitable for large and very humid rooms.

*Room Temperature 30°C / Relative Humidity 80%

A Dehumidifier can be placed in the living room, bedroom, and damp rooms. Place a Dehumidifier outside the bathroom to control humidity levels in connecting rooms.

Please observe the suggested minimum spacing requirement around the unit so that it can work effectively in removing moisture.

Running Continuously/Sleeping

A Dehumidifier can generally be left running unattended, provided all safety precautions stipulated in the supplied Instruction Manual have been taken. It will turn off automatically when the tank is full or the required humidity is reached.

The MJ-EV38HR Dehumidifier has a permanent (continuous) drainage option if you intend to leave your unit on for an extended period. It will bypass the drainage tank by removing the water collected with a hose (not included) and drain outside.

Instructions on how to attach a hose with an internal diameter of 15 mm to the drain are on page 20 of the User Manual.

Please note that the Dehumidifier may be noisy (up to 48dBA), especially if the room is very humid.
