About this Privacy Policy Statement

At Mitsubishi Electric Australia Pty Limited and its related bodies corporate ("MEAust", "us" or "we"), we understand and appreciate that you may be concerned about your privacy and about the confidentiality and security of information we may receive about you. We are committed to protecting your privacy and to complying with the National Privacy Principles.

Please read this policy to understand how your personal information is collected, used, protected and recorded by us.

Information Collected

We collect personal information from you in order to provide you with products and services in the fields of living environment products, computer peripherals, semiconductors, automotive and industrial products, transportation and heavy engineering and telecommunications, security products and such other products and services as we may offer from time to time. We may also collect personal information about you to better understand your requirements and preferences, improve our services and to provide offers that may be of interest or benefit to you. For example, we collect personal information from you in order to provide you with services, assess your application for commercial credit or when you deal with us over the telephone. Without these details we may not be able to carry on our business and provide our services to you.

We may collect your personal information from a number of places, including when you visit our website, when you call, email or otherwise contact us and when you order goods or services from us. The personal information we collect may include your name, address, email address, contact phone number, transaction information and financial details.

When you visit our website and request information, we require your name and email address. We require this information to respond to your queries. Any information that you enter onto an online form (for example, contact details) will only be collected by us if you submit this online form. In other words, if you cancel the online form or log out prior to submitting your form, any information which you had entered is automatically deleted.

Please note, the information provided by you may be disclosed to our agents, contractors or third party service providers who provide administrative or other services to us. Any personal information provided to these agents and contractors is provided only to perform their agreed tasks and they are required to keep such information confidential.

Your information may also be used within MEAust to enable us to offer you other products and services that will enhance our relationship with you. If you do not want to receive any such communication from us, please contact us and advise us of your decision.

We maintain strict standards and procedures to prevent unauthorised access to your personal information and ensure correct use of information. We will use all reasonable endeavours to protect your personal information from unauthorised access.

Personal information will be de-identified or destroyed when no longer required by us.

You can access and update personal information MEAust holds about you by contacting us during ordinary business hours. We will allow you access unless we consider that there is a sound reason under the Privacy Act or other relevant law to withhold the information. If we refuse to provide you with access or correct the personal information held about you by us, we will provide reasons for such refusal. If MEAust and you disagree about whether the information is accurate, complete and up-to-date, you can request us to associate with the information a statement claiming that the information is not accurate, complete or up-to-date and we will take reasonable steps to do so.

We may charge you a reasonable fee for accessing your personal information. Your request to provide information will be dealt with within a reasonable amount of time.

Please also contact us whenever there is a change to your personal information or as soon as you are aware that the details we have about you are not accurate, complete or up-to-date. We will then take all reasonable steps to correct the information so that it is accurate, complete and up-to-date, subject to the terms of this privacy policy.

Transfer of information overseas

Pursuant to the National Privacy Principles, we may transfer personal information we have collected about you to someone other than you in a foreign country, but only if such transfer is permitted by the National Privacy Principles.

Complaints

If you have a complaint regarding the way in which your personal information is being handled by us, please contact us in the first instance. If we are unable to reach a satisfactory solution through negotiation, you can request an independent person to investigate the complaint such as the Australian Information Commissioner.

MEAust may make changes to this privacy policy from time to time for any reason. We will publish our changes on our web site at http://www.mitsubishielectric.com.au.
