Mitsubishi Electric Australia today announced the availability of two new installation projector models, the XD8100U and WD8200U. These are the first models in the Mitsubishi Electric projector line-up to use dual-lamp systems. The XD8100U and WD8200U have been designed for continuous operation, making them ideal for use in areas where images need to run 24/7 such as in airports or control rooms.

The WD8200U’s resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels reproduces widescreen picture content perfectly at a stunning 6500 ANSI lumens. The XD8100U takes the image brightness to even greater heights, offering XGA resolution pictures at a brilliant 7000 ANSI lumens.

A ‘Lamp Relay’ function allows each lamp in the projectors to be alternately turned off for a set period of time, ensuring non-stop operation while at the same time extending lamp life. The projectors also feature an automatic self-cleaning filter and heat-pipe cooling system for extra durability and less downtime for maintenance.

“Mitsubishi Electric has always prided itself on making reliable products that are engineered to keep running over long stretches of time” said Stuart Baker, Senior Manager of Mitsubishi Electric Visual Information Systems division. “These new projectors with their dual-lamp design, self-cleaning filter and simple heat-pipe cooling systems offer users excellent picture quality and exceptional durability”.

For enhanced picture quality, both the XD8100U and WD8200U include an advanced image processing technology developed by Mitsubishi Electric. The Super Resolution feature analyses blurred components of low resolution images, then estimates the high resolution data not included in the original image and corrects the quality accordingly, creating sharp images with excellent detail.

Advanced geometric correction provides installers with greater freedom when setting up the projectors. The XD8100U and WD8200U have both Keystone and Cornerstone correction for adjusting trapezoidal and diagonal distortion, while the Curved Surface correction allows for images to be projected accurately onto curved or round surfaces such as pillars.

The XD8100U and WD8200U have Edge Blending and Colour Matching functions for when multiple projectors are used to create a single large image. Network connectivity is included for remote monitoring and management, and both models are equipped to run with Crestron® software and AMX Device Discovery. Natural Colour Matrix allows for individual adjustment of each primary and secondary colour (R,G,B,C,M,Y), and the projectors can be used a full 360° along the vertical axis, for projection onto wall, floors and ceilings.

Both models feature a motorised lens shift function, powered focus and zoom, as well as optional lenses for short throw, long throw, tele-throw and rear projection.

Brightness has been given a boost with the latest installation projector from Mitsubishi Electric

Mitsubishi Electric today announced the release of the XD3500U installation projector. This new installation projector model enables users to deliver stellar images in large areas such as conference rooms and lecture halls, thanks to its stunning 5000 ANSI lumens brightness.

High brightness isn’t the only outstanding feature of this DLP™ projector - superior colour performance is also realised thanks to the combination of BrilliantColourTM technology, a five segment colour wheel and selective lamp power modulation. Each of these innovative features ensures truer image reproduction from your presentations, with rich and vibrant colours to captivate the audience.

“Brightness isn’t the only thing to consider when choosing a projector for a large area – image reproduction is also an important factor” said Stuart Baker, Visual Information Systems Senior Manager, Mitsubishi Electric Australia. “Fortunately with the XD3500U, the colour boosting technologies incorporated not only ensure accurate image reproduction, but also vibrant image reproduction.”

Breakthroughs in projector design have significantly boosted the longevity of the projector’s operating life. A newly designed, enclosed colour wheel system has effectively prevented the accumulation of dust on the colour wheel sensor, resulting in sharper images which are clear of colour bleeding. A new lamp drive system has also been designed which maximises projector brightness for the entire service life of the lamp.

In addition to great picture quality and sturdiness, the XD3500U has been designed with user-friendliness in mind. A very quiet operating volume of just 26dBA (in low mode) lets your audience enjoy presentations free of any distraction from the projector. It also offers remote administration and monitoring via a local area network (LAN) allowing the user to control the projector through a web browser, as well as receive e-mails if a projector requires maintenance (e.g. when it’s time to replace the lamp). Side access to the lamp bay simplifies the replacement process (e.g. a projector suspended from the ceiling doesn’t need to be removed from its mounting bracket when exchanging the lamp).

A filter free design coupled with a lamp life of up to 4000 hours mean the projector has a low cost of ownership and reduced maintenance needs, saving the user time and money. Power consumption of less than 1W in standby mode also reduces running costs (while at the same time reducing the projector’s carbon footprint). A password lock and user programmable logo screen provides adequate security measures to discourage theft of the unit.

The XD3500U features a motorised lens shift function and interchangeable lenses are available so you can change between short throw, long throw, tele-throw and a rear projection short throw fixed lens.

Mitsubishi Electric’s latest 1080P projector brings high brightness home

Mitsubishi Electric today announced the availability of the HC3900, the newest product in its line of high-quality, award-winning 1080P home theatre projectors.

Unlike most home theatre projectors, the HC3900 boasts an unusually high maximum brightness of 3000 ANSI lumens, making it ideal for use in areas where light isn’t easily blocked out such as pubs, clubs or living rooms with large exposure to sunlight. Even during the day, users can watch their favourite movies or sporting events without worrying about ambient light drowning out the picture.

“For people who may not have access to a dedicated home theatre room, the HC3900 makes for an ideal solution” said Stuart Baker, Senior Manager, Mitsubishi Electric Australia Visual Information Systems. “When set up in a living room with the blinds or curtains closed, the HC3900 delivers excellent Full HD images that are clear and easy to view”.

The HC3900 features the latest Digital Light Processing (DLP™) chip from Texas Instruments, which incorporates a new digital micromirror device (DMD) comprised of densely embedded micromirrors. A smaller mirror cavity diameter and narrower gaps between mirrors improves the aperture ratio of the chip for a smoother image. Reflective light diffusion is also greatly reduced, which translates to a higher contrast ratio for better overall blacks, whites and colour reproduction.

Colour reproduction is further enhanced thanks to the combination of a five-segment colour wheel and BrilliantColorTM technology. Both these features are utilised to ensure images from video sources are reproduced accurately and with richer gradation. The HC3900 also boasts a colour management function where each individual colour (R,G,B,C,M,Y) can be adjusted to suit the user’s tastes.

The projector features a full 10-bit panel driver, which delivers approximately four times the gradation of its 8-bit counterparts for smoother black reproduction with subtler tones. The 1.5x short throw zoom lens incorporates a 13-piece, 4-cluster all-glass lens providing sharp, focused big-screen images even in smaller rooms.

The HC3900’s optimised high output lamp is capable of running up to 5000 hours*, for months of Full HD entertainment. An efficient cooling system and low-noise fan give the projector an impressive 25dBA* running volume. Other features include vertical keystone correction, a projector screen trigger and anamorphic lens compatibility.

With digital signage in commercial or public applications becoming an increasingly popular tool for businesses to showcase their products and services, the desire for bigger and better display equipment has also grown. In keeping with this trend, Mitsubishi Electric has today announced the release of the MDT421S 42” and MDT521S 52” commercial grade LCD displays. The new displays incorporate the latest technology for fantastic image reproduction and superior operability, while the sleek, aluminium design gives a stylish and professional look.

Advanced connectivity is one of the key features in the new range. The MDT521S display comes standard with an innovative CAT-5 transmitter/receiver pair, which allows both video and control signal data to be transmitted over the same network cable. The CAT-5 connection is also available as an option for the MDT421S.

Using the standard VGA connection, up to 25 displays can be combined to create a single large video wall, with frame compensation taking into account the bezel widths. The displays can be installed in landscape, portrait or full face-up positions.

“In large locations such as airports, shopping centres or high rise buildings, it can be difficult to have several displays controlled from a central location.” said Stuart Baker, National Manager of the Visual Information Systems department, Mitsubishi Electric Australia. “With the MDT displays however, this type of installation becomes much easier to achieve.”

Other features include twin ambient light sensors allowing the displays to automatically and accurately adjust brightness to suit any environment. Colour matching is also a key feature with 6-axis colour adjustment allowing users to adjust the hue and saturation of red, green, blue, magenta, yellow or cyan independently. Mitsubishi Electric optional Colour Match software, when used in conjunction with an external analyser can quickly and easily colour match any display wall with just the press of a key.

The MDT range also includes the standard features found in all Mitsubishi Electric commercial LCD displays, such as power and input scheduling, a screen saving function to prevent image retention, and PinP/PoutP modes.
Mitsubishi Electric latest portable projectors really go the distance.

Mitsubishi Electric Australia has announced its latest contributions to the professional display market with the release of the XD250U and XD280U projectors. These lightweight projectors are ideal for education and business use whether it be as a portable unit or in a fixed installation.

Both the XD250U and XD280U have a native XGA (1024 x 768 pixel) resolution, with high brightness levels of 2700 and 3000 ANSI lumens respectively, for clear and vivid images even in well lit rooms. The 2000:1 contrast ratio, combined with BrilliantColour™ technology and a six segment colour wheel ensures accurate image reproduction that jumps off the screen.

“Operating costs are a key factor for buyers when considering a new projector, and the main expense that comes with projector use is replacement lamps,” said Stuart Baker, Senior Manager of Visual Information Systems, Mitsubishi Electric Australia. “With their exceptionally long lamp life of up to 6000 hours, the XD250U and XD280U really help to keep a business or school’s A/V running costs down and the addition of low standby power increases these savings even further.”

Both models include a HDMI port as well as Composite, S-Video and dual VGA inputs – providing plenty of options for video and data source connection. Using the built-in RJ-45 port along with Mitsubishi Electric ProjectorView Global+ software, network administrators can remotely control and monitor multiple projectors over a dedicated local area network (LAN). The new Visual PA software gives an administrator the ability to broadcast important messages through any projectors connected to the LAN simultaneously.

Built-in 10 watt speakers with two separate 3.5mm audio inputs and an audio mixer, allow the projector to simultaneously play audio from two sources such as a DVD and third-party wireless microphone. The innovative “Audio Mix” feature allows users to adjust the volume levels of each input independently so that a speaker can address the audience without being drowned out by the audio track.

Other features include a very quiet operating volume of just 28 dB(A) (in low mode), top access to the lamp bay for a simplified replacement process (e.g. a projector suspended from the ceiling does not need to be removed from its mounting bracket when exchanging the lamp), and a filter free design for reduced projector downtime due to maintenance.

Mitsubishi Electric adds two short-throw models to its projector range.

The Mitsubishi Electric Australia Visual Information Systems Division have announced the release of two new short-throw projectors. Capable of projecting a 1.5m diagonal picture from as little as 83cm from the screen, the XD221U-ST and XD250U-ST projectors deliver stunning XGA resolution images with exceptional brightness and colour clarity.

The XD221U-ST and XD250U-ST boast a range of features to deliver rich, vibrant colours for truly eye-catching presentations. BrilliantColor™ technology developed by Texas Instruments™ provides more accurate colour reproduction by boosting mid-tone colour levels. The five (XD221U-ST) and six (XD250U-ST) segment colour wheels, which add additional colour segments to the traditional red, green, blue and white, further broadens the range of colour these projectors can generate. Lastly, the Colour Enhancer feature gives the user a choice between six different colour modes to best suit the presentation.

“Because of the added freedom short throw projectors provide presenters with, they are becoming increasingly popular in the marketplace,” said Stuart Baker, Senior Manager of the Visual Information Systems division, Mitsubishi Electric.

“In a ceiling installation, the presenter can stand directly in front of the projector without worrying about their shadow being cast on the screen. When used as a portable unit the presenter can place our short-throw projectors right at the edge of a meeting room table and still deliver a large image size, whereas conventional projectors take up a lot more table space to deliver the same results.”

Long-life lamps (up to 5,000 hours for the XD221U-ST, a massive 6,000 hours for the XD250U-ST), filter-free design and low standby power usage means lower total cost of ownership, while network connectivity provides the added functionality of remote monitoring and control. The built-in 10 watt speaker means no external audio system is required, and with two separate 3.5mm audio inputs and an audio mixer, the projectors can simultaneously play audio from two sources, such as a DVD and a third-party wireless microphone, with independent control of both volume levels.

Mitsubishi Electric Announces Sale of Glass Bonded Type Colour TFT-LCD Modules For Industrial Use

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation today announced the development of two new industrial use colour Thin Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display (TFT-LCD) with protective glass covering. The new glass bonded colour TFT-LCD modules will be available in 12.1-inch and 15-inch, the main sizes for industrial-use TFT-LCDs, in addition to its current line up.

These modules offer excellent visibility in outdoor applications, due not only to their high luminance but also to their low reflectivity in bright environments.

“In recent years TFT-LCD modules have become widely used in various environments and applications, such as GPS navigation systems for vehicle and marine equipment, as well as outdoor-use information display terminals like POS, ATMs and Kiosks” said Stuart Baker, Senior Manager of the Visual Information Systems division, Mitsubishi Electric Australia.

“Manufacturers of these products generally secure the surface of TFT-LCDs with anti-scratch and waterproof protective glass, which increases assembly time and quality concerns. As an alternative, there is increasing demand for glass bonded TFT-LCD products with protective glass already attached to the surface. There are, however, very few TFT-LCD manufacturers that sell glass bonded products, and Mitsubishi Electric is the only Japanese manufacturer that does so,” Baker said.

The newly developed 12.1-inch XGA and 15.0-inch XGA glass bonded models are additions to its current lineup of glass bonded products: 9-inch WVGA, 12.1-inch WXGA and 14.1-inch WXGA. The 12.1-inch XGA model achieves brightness of 900 cd/m2 and the 15.0-inch XGA model achieves brightness of 1,500 cd/m2, offering excellent visibility in combination with their glass bonded surfaces.

By bonding 3-millimeter thick protective glass onto TFT-LCD module surfaces with resin, outside light reflection has been reduced by 90 percent1 compared to products combined with regular protective glass. This improvement helps achieve excellent visibility in outdoor environments due to low reflectivity in bright areas.

In addition, the protective glass is bonded onto the TFT-LCD modules within the Mitsubishi Electric quality-managed factory. The high-quality glass bonded modules help customers simplify their assembly process and avoid quality concerns such as particle, dirt and other contaminants damaging the LCD during reassembly at customer production lines.

Mitsubishi Electric Develops Dual-rate Burst-mode Optical Transceiver for 10G-EPON Systems

World’s first transceiver for GE-PON and 10G-EPON

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (TOKYO: 6503) announced today it has developed the world’s first dual-rate burst-mode optical transceiver that enables the coexistence of GE-PON and 10G-EPON, which is used in optical line terminals. This announcement will also be made today at OFC/NFOEC2010 (Optical Fiber Communication Conference and the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference) held in San Diego, USA.

The transceiver will be integral to cost-effectively installing 10G-EPON systems on existing fiber plant networks. This will enable the optical access system to provide a faster, more economic connection by using existing optical fiber networks effectively.

Part of this work was supported by the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology.

Background

In the current, FTTH optical access system, the 1Gbps GE-PON is being extensively utilized. But with the recent growth of internet traffic, an optical access system of 10G-EPON that can transmit data 10 times faster is expected to provide users with a more comfortable online environment, such as easier high-definition video delivery and bulk file transfers.

When the 10G-EPON system is introduced, to reduce costs for laying fibers and equipment, both the GE-PON and 10G-EPON systems are required to be installed in the same fiber. To downstream from an Optical Line Terminal (OLT) to an Optical Network Unit (ONU) a mixed installation using multiple wavelength systems that multiplex 1Gbps signals and 10Gbps signals in different wavelengths is required. To upstream from ONU to OLT, a mixed installation using time-division multiplexing systems that multiplex them in the same wavelength is required. The biggest challenge is the development of a 10G/1G Dual-rate Burst 3R Transceiver for 10G-EPON corresponding to those systems.

Main Developments
1) Dual-rate burst-mode 3R transceiver enabling co-existing of 10G-EPON and GE-PONs
Mitsubishi Electric has developed key devices for dual-rate burst-mode optical transceiver to enable the coexistence of GE-PON with 10G-EPON. The key devices achieve the world’s highest receiver sensitivity.
(1) Chip set for dual-rate burst-mode receiving circuit
Burst-mode preamplifier IC and limiting amplifier IC are developed, which can switch their gain and bandwidth optimized for 10Gbps and 1Gbps receiver less than 800ns
(2) 82.5GS/s sampling CDR (Clock and Data Recovery) for dual-rate operation
Burst-mode CDR consists of 82.5GS/s sampling IC, the world’s fastest sampling speed, and a dual-rate data selector logical circuit

2) Optical performances complying with the strictest standards IEEE802.3av PR30 standards
Mitsubishi Electric developed optical devices (EML, DFB, APD-preamplifier) and a triplexer optical module, which fully meet the IEEE802.3av PR30 standards. They are integrated into a XFP-E-sized 2R transceiver. Their excellent transmission performance enables a loss budget of 29dB, the split ratio of 32 and a maximum transmission distance of SMF 20km, effectively utilizing existing fiber plant networks for coexistent GE-PON and 10G-EPON systems.

Patents

The technologies announced in this press release encompass 25 Japanese and 9 international patents pending.

The XD3200U takes the image brightness to even greater heights, offering XGA resolution pictures at a stunning 4500 ANSI lumens.

High brightness isn’t the only outstanding feature of these DLP™ projectors - superior colour performance is also realised thanks to the combination of BrilliantColour™ technology, a five segment colour wheel and selective lamp power modulation. Each of these innovative features ensures truer image reproduction from your presentations, with rich and vibrant colours to captivate the audience.

Breakthroughs in projector design have significantly boosted the longevity of these projectors operating lives. A newly designed, enclosed colour wheel system has effectively prevented the accumulation of dust on the colour wheel sensor, resulting in sharper images which are clear of colour bleeding. A new lamp drive system has also been designed which maximises projector brightness for the entire service life of the lamp.

“Our product engineers in Japan know that not only are superb images expected from our projectors, but also durability” said Stuart Baker, Visual information Systems Senior Manager, Mitsubishi Electric Australia. “As a result, they have developed new lamp and colour wheel systems that greatly extend the life of our projectors, giving users better performance over the long run.”

In addition to high standards of picture quality and sturdiness, both projectors have also been designed with user-friendliness in mind. A very quiet operating volume of just 26dBA (in low mode) lets your audience enjoy presentations free of any distraction from the projector. They also offer remote administration and monitoring via a local area network (LAN) allowing you to control the projector through a web browser or receive e-mails if a projector requires maintenance (e.g. when it’s time to replace the lamp). Side access to the lamp bay simplifies the replacement process (e.g. a projector suspended from the ceiling doesn’t need to be removed from its mounting bracket when exchanging the lamp).

A filter free design coupled with a lamp life of up to 4000 hours mean these projectors have a low cost of ownership and reduced maintenance needs, saving the user time and money. Power consumption of less than 1W in standby mode also reduces running costs (while at the same time reducing the projector’s carbon footprint). A password lock and user programmable logo screen provides adequate security measures to discourage theft of the unit.

Both models feature a motorised lens shift function and interchangeable lenses are available so you can change between short throw, long throw, tele-throw and a rear projection short throw fixed lens.

Mitsubishi Electric offers a clear choice with its new MR-508U and MR-560U refrigerators

Mitsubishi Electric has today announced its latest models of home refrigerators, the large capacity 508 litre MR-508U and 560 litre MR-560U that come with the latest advances in anti-bacteria technology and a range of new space saving storage options for Australian families.

The MR-508U and MR-560U models feature an elevating shelf that can be raised or lowered by up to 40 millimetres using a sliding lever. This is particularly useful for those hard to store bottles that need to remain vertical. The best part is you can slide the shelf while the items are still on it.

To create more space, the new models also come with a flexible glass shelf that can be folded back in half, or extended to provide two full glass tiers. All the refrigerator’s tempered glass shelves are built to support up to 101 kilograms of weight.

Tony Hirst, Director, Mitsubishi Electric Living Environment Group said, “Our customers have asked us to reintroduce a large family size refrigerator, our response was designing a range that offered over 500 litres of storage capacity”.

The MR-508U and MR-560U’s unique anti-bacteria food liner offers anti-bacteria protection. This has been achieved by using inorganic anti-bacteria material that is non toxic and conforms to the highest Japanese food sanitation laws. Bacterial growth is also inhibited by the refrigerators’ cooling system that uses Negative Ion technology to surround the food items and preserve the nutrients and freshness of the food.

Another feature that makes the MR508U and MR560U fridges stand out are their crystal clear ice function. Normally water has air bubbles that make ice cubes look clear on the top but translucent underneath. Mitsubishi Electric’s revolving ice tray system makes the ice clear throughout.
A unique design feature is the slim handle design. The handle runs along the entire length of the fridge door meaning you can easily open it from any height.

Both models come with the Mitsubishi Electric five year parts, labour and compressor warranty.

Other features of the new models include:

Mitsubishi Electric takes a healthy leap into spring with new energy efficient MSZ-FB series

Mitsubishi Electric has today announced their latest MSZ-FB series inverter split air-conditioners that come with the latest advances in inverter technology, an i-See sensor and Plasma Duo filters. The new MSZ-FB series is engineered for superb balance between high energy efficiency and quiet operation.

The MSZ-FB series is one of the most energy efficient models for its capacity on the market based on the international COP/EER rating system. It delivers an impressive 13% more energy efficiency in heating and cooling operations over the previous FA series, and is the quietest inverter series ever released with a bigger line flow fan that achieves a quiet 20db(A) for cooling and 21db(A) for heating.

Conventional air-conditioners control indoor temperature by using only the intake air temperature at the top of the room. The MSZ-FB series comes with a new i-See Sensor that detects the floor temperature over a wide 150 degree area. This prevents excessive chilling during summer and deficient warming during winter.

Besides a pre-filter, the unit is also mounted with two plasma air purifying functions. These functions zap air dirt particles from micron to nano size which reduces and removes bacteria, pollen and mould spores.

Most air-conditioning units only measure the temperature of air at the top of the room. The MFZ-FB series utilises an “i-see Sensor” which moves from side to side to search for floor temperature which ensures a more regulated temperature.

Other features in the new range include:
- A guaranteed operating range of -10 to 46 degrees for cooling and -15 to 24 degrees for heating
- A Mould Fighter function that suppresses the growth of mould spores
- A Quick Clean easily detachable front panel that is easy to wash and can save consumers up to 30% on their electricity bill
- An optional centralised on/off remote controller

Bring the Golden Age to Life with the New Mitsubishi Electric HC7000

Mitsubishi Electric is bringing the action to life with the latest edition to its home theatre range, the HC7000. Engineered and manufactured in Japan, this stylish, curvy and glossy black projector comes with full HD 1080p resolution and an amazing contrast ratio of up to 72,000:1 thanks to the new Diamond Black Iris and optical compensation panel. At just 17db, the fan noise is the quietest in the market thanks to an innovative cooling system, ensuring a distraction free home theatre experience.

The amazing image is achieved as a result of the inclusion of several new technological advances. The HC7000 comes with the latest high performance Reon-VXTM video processor with HQV (Hollywood Quality Video) technology. The HC7000 also features an inorganic full high definition LCD panel, for the reproduction of vivid 1080P images with rich, deep blacks. Inorganic LCD panels also have a rated service life approximately 10x that of organic film panels, meaning the HC7000 is able to deliver years of high quality performance.

“This is the projector for cinema enthusiasts,” said Stuart Baker, National Manager of Mitsubishi Electric Australia’s Visual Information Systems group. “The HC7000 is Mitsubishi Electric’s flagship home theatre projector and for good reason. Once you turn it on, you’ll be blown away by just how good the images are.”

Other features of the HC7000 include a 1.6x power focus and zoom, and motorised lens shift for easy horizontal and vertical adjustment. The projector has two HDMI v1.3 input terminals, and anamorphic lens compatibility for widening the range of cinema-scope images.

It also comes with a lamp life of up to 5000 hours, a 3D micro surface air filter, trigger terminal and illuminated remote control.

Capture Audience Attention With Three New Projectors From Mitsubishi Electric

With sharp, bright images, vibrant colour and crisp detail, Mitsubishi Electric’s newest installation projectors are sure to keep an audience captivated. The WL6700U presentation projector is the first choice for large-sized presentations in widescreen format. Its WXGA resolution of 1366 x 800 pixels reproduces widescreen picture content perfectly. The XL6600U and XL6500U are designed for permanent installation in conference rooms and large halls and have a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels.

The XL6600U offer very high brightness levels of 6000 ANSI lumens whilst the XL6500U and WL6700U deliver an impressive brightness level of 5000 ANSI lumens making them perfect for well lit rooms.

“Top visual quality is vital for presentations to be memorable for the right reasons and that’s exactly what Mitsubishi Electric’s top-class projectors and XL6500U deliver”, said Thomas Seeto, Director, Mitsubishi Electric Australia.

Presenters no longer need to worry about selecting the appropriate screen size as the WL6700U can automatically detect the input signal, and display an optimum screen size of either 16:10, 16:9 or 4:3. Also, since the WL6700U incorporates a 1366 x 800 pixel WXGA panel it will support multiple WXGA images.

All the projectors offer remote administration via a local area network (LAN) and all three feature Picture in Picture technology, allowing you to show two images on the one screen from two different sources. The images can either be seen side by side or with a sub screen overlapping the main one.

Mitsubishi Electric has today announced the arrival of its newest display cube. The VS-80PH40U is a massive 80 inch rear projection cube featuring the latest in Digital Light Processing (DLP™) technology. With a resolution of 1400 x 1050 the projection cube is perfect for wall displays in control rooms, emergency operation centres and for public information displays such as airports and train stations

The VS-80PH40U display cube produces crisp and vibrant images which are configured to ergonomically match today's brightest desktop monitors. These models can be joined up to three screens high without a brace or support and as many long as is required to make a single large screen, and with only a 1mm seam between each cube.

"Mitsubishi Electric is constantly striving to better meet our customer’s needs for reliable and maintenance free display systems," said Thomas Seeto, Director, Mitsubishi Electric Australia. "The new display cubes are extremely reliable and come with several automatic and smart features such as brightness balancing so that they are easy to use. They are efficient in lamp usage and maintenance requirements so that owners have a lower total cost of ownership."

Other features include dynamic brightness balancing; a sensor that communicates between all attached cubes to ensure uniform brightness across the whole display, as well as an exclusive lamp changer; which automatically switches to a new lamp once the current one has reached the end of its life.

Installation and service time can be reduced using remote mechanical adjustments to the image geometry. This time saving device enables a single technician to make slight adjustments to create a precise image alignment across the video wall display.

Mitsubishi Electric exclusive Smart Lamp Module in each display stores its own colour characteristics. This data is accessed when swapping the lamp in one or more cubes within the display wall. Upon replacement, the cube with the new lamp automatically communicates that lamp's data with all other cubes and performs the Colour Space Control adjustment to rebalance the entire display wall, saving time and reducing maintenance costs.

Availability and Pricing
The VS-80PH40U is available from selected AV dealers nationally.

Mitsubishi Electric's new data and video projector, the XD500U-ST, incorporates an ultra powerful short throw lens to produce an image of 152 cm at a distance of just 83 cm from the screen. At such a short distance, presenters now don't need to concern themselves with casting a shadow across the screen. The projector is perfect for classrooms or small presentation rooms.

The Mitsubishi Electric XD500U-ST has a 2500:1 contrast ratio and 2000 ANSI lumens. As an added benefit the projector has optional whiteboard and blackboard modes.

"Often in class rooms and small boardrooms presentations it can be awkward when you have to have the projector sitting at the opposite end of the room and the presenters shadow blocks out half the screen," said Thomas Seeto, Director, Mitsubishi Electric Australia. "Mitsubishi Electric wanted take some of the hassle out of presentations by producing a projector that could create good size quality images at short distances."

The Mitsubishi Electric XD500U-ST incorporates BrilliantColor™ technology for richer colours and better images so that you are not compromising on picture quality in the short throw projector.
Superior colours and long-life performance with Mitsubishi Electric Leo Series Projectors

SYDNEY 29 May, 2008 – Thanks to a combination of innovative technologies, the new Leo projector series from Mitsubishi Electric sets a new benchmark in colour accuracy and reproduction.

The Leo series includes three new projectors, the XD500U, XD510U, and the XD520U. Each model features the latest 6-segment colour wheel design developed to enhance the colour spectrum by adding yellow and cyan segments to the standard red, green, blue and white segments.

The projectors automatically adjust themselves to optimise brightness and colour in the user’s actual environment by using colour algorithms. Moreover, the brightness of the three projectors means that they can be used in ambient light. The XD500U has a brightness of 2200lm, the XD510U is 2600lm and the XD520U is 3000lm. The 2000:1 contrast ratio guarantees excellent black level reproduction.

By combining BrilliantColorTM and lamp power modulation technology, the Leo series act intelligently to boost colours that are prone to being darker or less saturated. This improves the overall intensity and vibrancy of the entire displayed image. For instance, where there is a need to project vivid images in an already bright screen image, the lamp is programmed to provide brighter colours. In contrast, when the objective of the display is to deliver an image with emphasis on genuine colour reproduction, the algorithm will deliver just the right colours with the appropriate radiance.

“The Leo series projectors render images in new standards of colour richness, accuracy and quality. Together with long-life performance, these projectors set new benchmarks for portable projectors in Australia,” said Thomas Seeto, Director, Mitsubishi Electric Australia.

Other features of the projectors include a long-life lamp of up to 4,000 hours in the XD510U, a low noise operation level of 26dBA in the XD500U, filter free designs for less maintenance, time-saving instant shutdown for presentations on the move and newly designed casing with centred lens for easier installation and setup.

Mitsubishi Electric Australia launches 2008 Visual Information Systems range

SYDNEY 5th March, 2008 – Mitsubishi Electric Australia today revealed its complete 2008 Visual Information Systems product range. Two standout products from the new range include the 56 inch ultra high resolution LCD display and the latest large venue format video projector, the Mitsubishi Electric FL7000U.

The Mitsubishi Electric QFHD is Visual Information Systems newest 56 inch LCD display. The LCD monitor is ideal for simulated tandem displays in control rooms, computer aided design (CAD) review for high resolution digital imaging, security camera monitoring, geographic and mapping design and digital archive viewing in museums, libraries and universities.

Matt Hanna, Product Manager, Visual Information Systems, said, “The 56” QFHD screen is the latest in our range of information display technology and emphasises our ongoing commitment to delivering innovative solutions for the visual information systems market.”

The Mitsubishi Electric 56” QFHD monitor offers more than eight mega pixels (3840 x 2160) in one single screen. That’s equivalent to four full high definition monitors of 1920 x 1080P display in a two by two format.

The screen can realise a brightness of 500cd/m2 with a remarkable contrast of 1200:1 producing sharp crisp images. The Mitsubishi Electric QFHD lowers the total cost of ownership through lower power consumption and longer life operations compared to other display systems with similar resolutions.

Mitsubishi Electric Australia is also releasing the latest in large venue format video projectors, the Mitsubishi Electric FL7000U. This versatile projector delivers presentations in full 1080p high-definition, complete with split (side-by-side) screen display.

Matt added, “The FL7000U is the perfect projector for big venues in the education, science, entertainment and business sectors. It is compatible with HDTV broadcasts and high definition DVDs to project impressive, full 1080p images in all their digital glory.”

The Mitsubishi Electric FL7000U delivers super bright 5000 lumen images, ideal for large function rooms and conference halls. The quiet 29dB(A) noise level of the fan won’t distract audiences either. Designed with optimum lamp temperature control, the FL7000U can support a lamp life of up to 4000 hours – saving money on frequent lamp replacements.

It comes with the enhanced connectivity of the RJ45 connector, providing AV management with the ease of LAN control. The projector view software included with the unit can remotely manage all the projectors on a network with the added email alert feature if a projector needs attention. The additional anti-theft features including password security, motion alarm and screen capture are designed to prevent physical theft through software passwords and a high decibel alarm.

The differences between display systems are minimised through Mitsubishi Electric’s sRGB colour profile technology. This eliminates hue variations and accurately matches the way colours look in real life.

“The new 2008 range capitalises on last year’s success as we move to build a strong brand leadership in the key Visual Information Systems markets,” Matt concluded.

Latest Mitsubishi Electric Projector Makes Presentations A Breeze

SYDNEY 17 January, 2007 – Mitsubishi Electric’s latest data projector will help make your next presentation standout with its widescreen 16:9 display. The WL639U portable WXGA projector has a viewing area of 1.3 times wider than conventional projectors, removing the need to scroll left to right. Depending on the applications, users can screen two windows at once. The widescreen resolution also gives this projector the ability to play DVD’s at full screen without the need for compression. Boasting a high brightness of 3500 ANSI Lumens, the WL639U is perfect for conferences, meeting rooms and lecture theatres.

The projector has a low fan noise of 29dBA so you won’t have to raise your voice to be heard while you are presenting and is also network ready, making it even easier to start a presentation via remote management from your laptop or PC.

“Meetings and presentations are often held in external locations so it is important that a data projector is portable and light”, said Thomas Seeto, Director, Mitsubishi Electric. “We also feel that quality is just as important on a data projector as it is on a home theatre projector so we have ensured that the fan noise won’t drown you out and that light and colour in the room won’t wash out a projected image.”

Colour Wall Correction enables you to maintain correct colours even when projecting on coloured walls. By selecting the colour of the wall in the setup menu, the projector will simply adjust its colour tone accordingly.

Real-life colours are captured using the latest 3LCD technology by matching hue variations in the colour spectrum. The colour is consistent across the screen due to its valuable colour enhancer and 3D Colour Uniformity features.

One of the projector’s most appealing features is that it is not limited to one position and can easily be re-located and set-up using digital keystone correction. The projector also has enhanced security settings with its anti-theft anchor and prevention of unauthorised use through the user-selectable password which locks out menu functions.

Lamp life is excellent at up to 4000 hours and replacement is very easy as the lamp can be removed from the side of the unit.

SYDNEY 15 January, 2007 – Mitsubishi Electric Australia’s HL650U portable SXGA+ projector enables users to experience stellar high resolution images with crystal-clear picture quality. Featuring Super Extended Graphics Array (SXGA+) resolution, the HL650U offers users the ability to project images at 1400x1050 native resolution – perfect for presentations from high end PCs.

With an immaculate brightness of 3100 lumens, the HL650U delivers clear presentations even in large or well-lit rooms. The latest generation inorganic C2 fine LCD panels have twice the service life of organic orientation film, ensuring high-quality images that retain their sharpness and vibrancy over the long run.

Colour technologies such as sRGB and 3D Colour Uniformity also add to the excellence of the displayed images, ensuring truer colour reproduction by matching hue variations in the colour spectrum. Also, the wall colour support feature allows the projection of high quality images onto coloured walls.

“The HL650U projector not only reduces running costs, its high resolution display system with superb picture quality and brightness delivers a superior experience to users,” said Thomas Seeto, Director, Mitsubishi Electric Australia.

Light source lamp temperature control allows optimum settings, leading to a long life lamp of up to 5,000 hours (in low mode). This makes for dramatic reductions in running cost, while at the same time reducing maintenance downtime for lamp replacements. If a lamp needs to be replaced, it can easily be removed from the side of the projector. This is especially useful if the projector is mounted to a ceiling or a wall bracket.

Running at a low noise level of 29dBA, the HL650U has a quiet fan which is unobtrusive and will not distract from the presentation.

SYDNEY 24 October, 2007 – A quality, high definition home theatre projector is now more affordable than ever before with the release of the Mitsubishi Electric HC4900 projector. The HC4900 has a great combination of features for its price such as the 1080p high resolution, 7500:1 contrast ratio, and the offering of both HDMI and DVI connectors to ensure the best signal quality from the video source.

Adding to the appeal of the HC4900 is the extremely low noise levels, just 19db in low mode, so that the drama of a quiet scene is not interrupted by the whirring of the projector. The projector has a long lamp life of up to 5000 hours and when it does need changing there is convenient side access for quick lamp changes.

"People shouldn't have to compromise on picture quality because of price. This projector means consumers can have a great home theatre and not have to break the bank to afford it", said Thomas Seeto, Director, Mitsubishi Electric Australia.

The HC4900 has been designed with three C2 Fine inorganic LCD panels that are more durable and provide a more colour-consistent, even-toned image than previous generation LCD panels. A protective filter is added to the LCD block housing to help reduce dust landing on the LCD panels, producing cleaner images.

The HC4900 has a sleek, black design and features power zoom and focus, plus lens shift to provide you with flexible options for installation. It also includes a trigger terminal which is great for those who have a motorised projection screen. When the projector is switched on, this will automatically drop the screen, a great feature for a projector at this price point.

Mitsubishi Electric Australia launches Visual Information Systems

Mitsubishi Electric Australia today signalled a new direction for its digital electronics business with the announcement that the division will be rebranded, Visual Information Systems (VIS). The news follows strong results for the division with record projector sales being achieved in May.

The VIS product range will comprise four product groups: projectors, large format LCD information displays, security video recorders and video cubes. Mitsubishi Electric will phase out its range of Diamond Digital PC monitors between now and September 30 to concentrate on the high growth potential of the new visual market.

Paul Calderara, Sales and Marketing Manager, Visual Information Systems, said, "VIS represents our new focus on the rapidly growing commercial visual category in Australia. We have the technology pedigree to take a market leadership position in each of the four product groups and with our expanding sales team we expect our share of the market in the coming quarters to increase significantly."

IDC reports that with worldwide projector sales expected to grow by 1.6million, "the Australian projector market is at the cusp of growth, and key players are considering strategies to target market segments touted to experience the strongest growth over the next few years."

Paul added, "we agree with IDC's findings and our new direction is expected to capitalise on this growth. While the Diamond Digital PC monitor range has been successful for us in the past, the expanded product range in AV and security have highlighted that Mitsubishi Electric will enjoy strong returns from these categories."

Mitsubishi Electric will continue to support warranty and servicing for Diamond Digital PC monitors.

Mitsubishi Electric's futuristic take on hand drying

Mitsubishi Electric Australia today announced the availability of the Jet Towel, a revolutionary new addition to the commercial hand dryer market. The breakthrough design halves the time taken to dry your hands - perfect for commercial kitchens, hotels and public bathrooms.

Unlike conventional hand dryers that require users to stand in front of the unit for at least a minute before hands are adequately dry, the unique ergonomic design of the Jet Towel makes drying hands faster. The dryer works by the user placing their hands into a V shaped drying area where sensors activate the front and back air ducts. The blasts of air from each of the ducts ensure dry hands in 5-6 seconds.

The Jet Towel is environmentally efficient and economical, eliminating the need for paper hand towels that create mess and add to waste. The shorter time taken to dry also means less energy will be used.

Every area of the Jet Towel that comes into contact with water is treated with an antibacterial finish ensuring commercial areas comply with strict hygiene requirements. In addition, the dryer is designed for the user to avoid directly touching the unit, ensuring that they do not come in contact with bacteria from other users.

"Mitsubishi Electric set out to create a unit that would dry hands very quickly and help to maintain hygiene levels especially in areas such as commercial kitchens where time is precious and hygiene is of the utmost importance", said Tony Hirst, Mitsubishi Electric General Manager. "Aside from being economical, convenient and hygienic, it is a stylish unit that looks great in any commercial setting."

Installation is easy as the unit can either be fitted to a wall or the specially made Jet Towel stand can be used which enables the unit to be easily moved around if required.

Mitsubishi Electric up sizes its LCD screens again

SYDNEY 23 May, 2007 – Mitsubishi Electric Australia has today announced the release of the 42” LDT421V WXGA LCD display. The new LCD has the largest display space of any of the Mitsubishi Electric screens and provides any shop or boardroom with a professional touch. Designed primarily for the display of video and messaging content, the screens are perfect for digital signage, message boards, video conferencing or retail kiosks.

The tile matrix capability allows the user to link up to 16 panels at one time to form a single configuration providing the opportunity to display images to scale. In large commercial spaces, this digital signage application delivers maximum impact.

The high contrast display incorporates motion shift and Gamma control; a screen protection feature which moves the images minutely in different directions to stop the image retention (burn-in) which can occur after extended use. The screen also features a cooling fan and brightness controls to help protect the life of the screen.

The LDT421V display has a contrast ratio of 1500:1 and a brightness level of 500 cd/m² to create a picture with incredible visual detail.

“Due to its great impact and professional look, digital signage is being used in more areas to help companies stand out from the competition. Trade shows in particular are seeing an increase in the number of stands making use of the eye-catching displays. Important reasons for choosing to go with digital signage are the ability to change the screens messaging at short notice and the impact of linking the screens together to create a gigantic image, delivering maximum impact”, said Paul Calderara, Mitsubishi Electric Australia Digital Electronics General Manager. “The LDT421V expands the current range to three models with even larger sizes to be released soon. The entire LDT range is extremely cost effective while providing the highest level of product quality” he said.

The LDT421V comes with Picture in Picture (PIP) technology, allowing two images to run on one screen simultaneously. The display also has a rapid response time of 8 milliseconds ensuring fast moving pictures are free from ghosting.

To help preserve the life span of the panels the LDT421V detects when an input signal is no longer active and will automatically switch to power save mode to help protect the display. It also has a built in scheduling facility, which allows the user to set automatic times for the display to switch on and off. This way the model is working for the hours you want, while conserving the lifespan for the remainder of the time.

Mitsubishi Electric two-year limited onsite warranty is included with purchase.

Optional speakers are available for this model – Model No: SP-421V

Mitsubishi Electric says black is the new black

Black is back with the release of the new HC3100 DLP home theatre projector from Mitsubishi Electric. With unparalleled colour reproduction, the HC3100 will take your home theatre experience to new heights with its high resolution (1280 X 768) and high contrast ratio (4500:1) for perfect dark images, as well as a newly developed colour wheel for accurate reproduction of colour tones.

The inclusion of the new DMD Darkchip3 enables the HC3100 to project an even blacker black. The process achieves impressive reductions in reflection, creating a crisper, clearer contrast.

The HC3100 unique motorised iris enables optical contrast adjustments, which can be used to choose the optimal light output for what is being viewed. The iris can be narrowed for use in lower light rooms, ideal for atmospheric movie viewing. For a brighter room or watching programs such as sporting events, the iris can be opened fully, providing brighter, more striking images.

The HC3100 includes a trigger terminal which is great for those who have a motorised projection screen. When the projector is switched on this will automatically drop the screen, a sophisticated feature for a projector at this price point.

"This projector was developed to help create a state of the art home theatre that was affordable but didn't compromise on quality. As a result we even managed to include upmarket technology in there by incorporating the screen trigger," said Paul Calderara, Mitsubishi Electric Digital Electronics National Sales and Marketing Manager.

The HC3100 is whisper quiet with a 25dB(A) running volume, ensuring no background noise will distract from the viewing experience. The user also has the flexibility to choose the colour wheel speed - 5 speed when colour-breaking noise is a concern or 4 speed when the stress is on picture quality.

The projector has a 3000-hour lamp life and is filter-free which means there is no need to check filters, an extended lamp life and lower cost of total ownership.

Availability and Pricing
The HC3100 is available through selected home cinema specialists now:
RRP $3299.00

The home theatre is now a possibility for everyone after the release of the Mitsubishi Electric HC1100 Home Cinema projector. At this entry point in the market it is definitely one of the most competitively priced home theatre projectors out just now. The HC1100 projector is a DLP model whereas the majority of projectors at this price point in the market are LCD.

It is equipped with the latest 720p DMD panel (DC2) featuring an expanded mirror operation angle of 12 degrees.
The projector is definitely the lightest around, weighing a mere 2.9kg. The next lowest weight projector is 4.2kg making this the lightest projector in this category. The light weight makes this projector extremely portable. Not only can you fix the projector to the wall or ceiling, it can be moved easily from room to room without breaking a sweat. You could even take the movies to your friends place to share the cinematic experience.
