Mitsubishi Electric Named Guinness World Record Holder for Keeping Australians Cool

Mitsubishi Electric has been certified as a Guinness World Record holder, named the world’s longest running cross-flow-fan air conditioner brand.

Enhancing homes for 50 years, Mitsubishi Electric has been certified as a Guinness World Record holder, named the world’s longest running cross-flow-fan air conditioner brand.

Paving the way for innovative thinking in cooling technology, Mitsubishi Electric began its history of air conditioning with wind. In 1920, they released the first product to deliver a refreshing wind - the electric fan. Then, in 1968, they designed the first air-conditioner equipped with a cross-flow-fan - a mechanical fan used to create flow within a fluid - setting the standard for current air-conditioners.

Since then, things have significantly developed. Mitsubishi Electric is now famous for its innovation in energy efficiency, with products such as the MSZ-GL Series and MSZ-FH Series designed to keep energy costs low.

Atesh Mani, Air Conditioning Expert at Mitsubishi Electric highlights the great feat for the company.

“Our air conditioners are world-leaders in reliability, quietness and energy efficiency, and have proven performance in the tough Australian environment. Receiving this certification re-establishes our commitment to product innovation for our air conditioning technology and in keeping with this commitment, we have introduced a number of state-of-the-art features,” he said.

The company now supplies a wide range of air conditioning systems from small split systems, to multi-split systems and ducted air conditioning systems for the home. Like any technology, air conditioner designs have evolved and improved drastically in the past 50 years. There are units from as recent as 2012 that are 40 per cent less efficient than current models working almost twice as hard as newer models.
