Windows 98 Installation

  1. Download the self-extracting archive for your modem and save it to floppy disk or in a temporary directory

  2. Run the file to extract its contents

  3. Run the Uninstall.exe file included in the extracted files  this will remove your current modem drivers. Click OK to restart the computer once the drivers have been removed

  4. On restart, Windows will detect the modem and start the Add New Hardware Wizard. Click Next

  5. Select Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended) and click Next

  6. Check the Specify a location box, then click Browse. In the Browse for Folder window, navigate to where the drivers were extracted and click OK, then click Next

  7. Click Next to install the driver and then click Finish to install the modem's auxiliary drivers

  8. Windows will now detect the actual modem. Select Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended) and click Next

  9. Click Next, then Next again

  10. Click Finish to complete the modem installation

Windows ME Installation

  1. Download the self-extracting archive for your modem and save it to floppy disk or in a temporary directory

  2. Run the file to extract its contents

Windows 2000 Installation

  1. Download the self-extracting archive for your modem and save it to floppy disk or in a temporary directory

  2. Run the file to extract its contents

  3. Open My Computer, and then open the Control Panel folder. Double-click the System icon

  4. In the System Properties window, click the Hardware tab, then click the Device Manager button.

  5. In the Device Manager window, click the plus symbol next to Modems, then right mouse click on the Diamond Voice 56UE USB Fax Modem icon and select Properties.

  6. At the top of the window, click the Driver tab, then select Update Driver

  7. The Upgrade Device Driver window will appear click Next

  8. Select Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver, then click Next

  9. Click on the Have Disk button, and then click the Browse button

  10. In the Locate File window, navigate to where the drivers were extracted and click Open, followed by OK.

 

Windows XP Installation

  1. Windows XP will initially mistakenly detect the Diamond Voice 56 UE USB modem as a D-Link USB V.90 56K Fax modem. To update to the correct modem drivers follow the steps below:
  2. Download and run the DV56UE_XP.exe file to self extract the modem drivers. The drivers will automatically create and extract to a C:\56UE folder on your hard disk
  3. From the desk top select Start => Control Panel => Switch to Classic View => Phone and Modem Options => Modem.
  4. Double click on the D-Link USB V.90 56K Fax Modem
  5. Select the Driver tab
  6. Click on the Update Driver button
  7. Select the Install from a list or Specific Location (Advanced) option, and click Next
  8. Select the Don’t search, I will choose the driver to install option, and click Next
  9. Click on the Have Disk button
  10. Click on the Browse button, and direct windows to the C:\56UE folder containing the modem drivers and click Open
  11. Click OK at the Install from Disk window
  12. Diamond Voice 56 UE USB Fax Modem will appear in the Hardware Update Wizard window, and click Next
  13. Windows XP will warn that the driver has not passed windows logo testing, no logo’d driver is available at this time so click Continue Anyway
  14. The driver update is now complete, click Finish

 

Diamond Voice 56UE Mac OS X Installation Guide

  1. Download the USB56kModemInstaller.hqx file and save it to your hard drive. Double click on the downloaded file to unstuff the 56k Modem Installer file.
  2. Double-click the 56k Modem Installer file - Classic Environment will now start up. Select the USB 56k Modem Card driver from the USB 56k Modem window, then click Install. A prompt will appear asking if you want to continue, click Yes. The modem files will now be loaded into the Mac OS 9 System Folder. Once installation is complete, click the Quit button in the dialogue box that appears.
  3. Go to Macintosh HD > System Folder (OS 9) > Extensions > Modem Scripts, highlight the USB 56k Modem Card script file, go to the Edit menu and select Copy "USB 56k Modem Card".
  4. Go to Macintosh HD > Library > Modem Scripts, then go to the Edit menu and select Paste Item.
  5. Go to the Apple menu and select Restart.
  6. Once the computer has restarted, go to Macintosh HD > Applications and select the Internet Connect icon.
  7. In the Internet Connect window, select the Atlas Modem Board from the Configuration option, then click on the Edit… button, the Network Preferences window will appear, select Atlas Modem Board from the Show option.
  8. Enter in all your relevant ISP details in the TCP/IP, PPP and Proxies subwindows. In the Modem subwindow, select USB 56k Modem Card from the Modem option.
  9. Once all your settings have been entered, restart your computer. You should now be able to connect to the Internet using the DV56UE under Mac OS X.
