Installing Windows 95, 98, Me and NT Device Drivers for the DV56E Modem

  1. Download the self-extracting archive for your modem and save it to floppy disk or in a temporary directory.
  2. Run the file to extract its contents.
  3. Open the Control Panel and double-click on Modems
  4. Click on Add...
  5. Select Don't detect my modem; I will select it from a list, then click on Next
  6. Select Have Disk
  7. Locate the driver files that you extracted and press OK
  8. Select your modem's model name and click on Next.
  9. Select the communications port that the modem is connected to and click Next
  10. Click on Finish to complete the installation.

Installing Windows 2000 and XP Device Drivers for the DV56E Modem

(Note: Windows 2000 will automatically load native drivers for the modem. Do not delete these drivers from the modem control panel, just leave them as they are.)

  1. Download the self-extracting archive for your modem and save it to floppy disk or in a temporary directory
  2. Run the file to extract its contents
  3. Open the Control Panel and double-click on Phone and Modem Options
  4. Click on Add...
  5. Select Don't detect my modem; I will select it from a list, then click on Next
  6. Select Have Disk
  7. Locate the driver files that you extracted and press OK
  8. Select your modem's model name and click on Next
  9. Select the communications port that the modem is connected to and click Next
  10. Click on Finish to complete the installation

Once the drivers have been loaded, be sure to change your dial up networking preferences to use the new modem driver only when dialling out.
