The DX-TL5716E from Mitsubishi Electric offers superb picture quality, installation flexibility and user friendly operation with first-rate performance for reliable security recording and surveillance around the clock.

Mitsubishi Electric is the leading provider of digital video recorders in Japan, with their products holding a widely recognised reputation for quality and dependability. The DX-TL5716E 16-channel digital video recorder continues this trend, providing advanced recording features and high reliability to meet the needs of any security installation.
MPEG-4 Recording and High Capacity Storage
The optimised MPEG-4 video compression results in more efficient use of the hard drive storage, providing extended recording hours whilst still maintaining high picture quality. Up to two high capacity internal storage hard disk drives can be stored in the unit with the option of connecting up to 16 DX-ZD6UE external HDD extension bays, meaning the DX-TL5716E can provide continuous recording for months on end.
Easy setup and operation via the GUI menu system
The easy to follow menu design makes operating the recorder a simple process even for beginners. For both initial setup (using the automated wizard) and daily operations, the on-screen menus make everything so easy you won't need to be continuously referring to a user manual. A USB mouse can be connected to the recorder to further simplify setup and operation, while instructions and advice are just a click away thanks to the handy onscreen Help button.
Multiplexer Function
A split-screen layout allows monitoring of up to 16 video feeds simultaneously, with each camera displaying at a full 25 fps (CIF). This represents a total system performance of 400 frames per second, and provides natural-looking live video display with smooth motion.
Triplex Function
Triplex capability means that you can display live video feeds as well as previously recorded footage at the same time as the DX-TL5716E is recording. You can even archive material simultaneously.
Dual Multiplexer Output
Dual multiplexer allows you to use two monitors, thus creating a powerful camera-monitoring setup with double split-screen capability. Live video and playback footage can be output separately to the two monitors.
Data Protection with Drive Mirroring and Sleep Mode
With two hard drives set up in mirroring mode, all data is recorded on both drives simultaneously. This enhances the reliability of the DVR since if one of hard drives were to fail, the recorded images would still be safely stored on the other hard drive. Sleep mode gives the users the ability to set hard drives to automatically power down when not in use, helping to reduce power consumption and prolong equipment life. Also, so that no drive is powered down for long periods, they will be automatically powered up at least once a day at a preset time.

Simple Data Archive/Copy
Both video footage and still images can be easily archived using optical media or a USB memory device. A copy button on the front panel and another available via the on-screen menu provides easy two-touch data backup.
Wide Range of Search Functions
Simplicity extends to searching through all data recorded by the DX-TL5716E. Date-time search, motion-detect search and alarm list search are all available from the menu system. Up to eight search bookmarks can be registered for instant retrieval of footage.
Networked Based Monitoring and Data Transfer
If you want to cover a very large facility from one location without requiring a large investment, you can make use of a LAN to create a highly scalable monitoring system, which can include up to 16 DX-TL5716E units. This setup enables the centralised monitoring of up to 256 security cameras using a single master unit or control all the DVRs via optional keyboard DX-KB5UE. Up to 15 PCs can be used to remotely monitor the site using nothing more than an internet web browser, and the system can be configured to automatically notify staff via e-mail if an alarm is triggered. Alarm recording data can also be set to automatically upload to an FTP server for remote staff to view. The internal clocks in the digital recorders can be synchronised remotely so that all DVRs in the networked system record the time accurately.
Front Access
Installing and replacing HDDs is quick and easy thanks to front panel access to the hard drive bays. The DVR doesn't even have to be removed from a rack mounted installation.

Front Access
Password Protection
There are four different levels of password access available on the DX-TL5716E, which can be set according to a user's operator status for different levels of access to the DVR's functions.
PTZ Camera Control
PTZ control (also available remotely over a network) lets you pan, tilt and zoom leading brand cameras. Using the number keys and jog-shuttle control on the DX-TL5716E, you simple pick a camera and then move it as desired to get a better view of any area of interest. Operation is facilitated by use of the optional DX-KB5UE keyboard. You can also control focus, exposure, presets and auto-pan in this way.
Emergency Recording
Emergency recording is activated by a device such as a panic button attached to a terminal on the rear panel. Whatever timed or programmed settings are in effect, emergency recording takes priority, cycling through all designated camera views automatically and recording at the highest quality setting so as to capture every detail.
Long Pre-Alarm Recording
If long pre-alarm recording has been selected, emergency recording can start as early as 60 minutes prior to the emergency signal. This exclusive feature can provide ample information for later examination and analysis.
Alarm Partition
The vital data produced by alarm or emergency recording is stored in a separate, reserved partition on the hard disk. This protects the video footage from the danger of being overwritten. To increase reliability even further, another hard disk can be used to mirror data: should one of the disks fail, the data will still be safe.
Setup Profile Management
The more you fine-tune the settings on the DX-TL5716E, the better it can serve your needs. But it also becomes more important for you to store those settings. Fortunately, it's very easy to save the complete setup profile using external media, such as a USB memory stick or CD-R disc. You can thus restore setup information at any time, but also copy profiles to other units as a quick means of cloning and customising.
Motion Detection Settings
Instead of investing in motion detectors, you can rely on the DX-TL5716E to perform the same function using the output of the security cameras. Image-processing firmware inside the recorder is able to pick out visible changes within a specified area covered by any camera. You can even adjust time-base sensitivity to match either fast or slow movement.
Bank Solutions
Banks demand high security, and the Mitsubishi Electric digital security recorders provide just that. As well as offering customisable motion detection for each camera, they can be connected to external sensors and panic buttons. Location, date/time and transaction details provided by ATMs can be embedded in the MPEG-4 recorded images as text data. This information can then be displayed during playback. The high compression offered by MPEG-4 recording and the ability to connect up to 16 HDD extension units makes it possible to store many months of camera footage. Password lock and data protection further enhances security. Also, daily time synchronisation means that the transaction data captured by the security digital recorder can be reliably matched with ATM camera footage for clear identification of illegal activity.

Retail Shop Solutions
In a typical retail store, cameras cover not only the cash register but also the entry/exit points, interior and exterior. Recording (including audio for the cash register) for each location can be customised depending on its importance (e.g so as not to use up too much storage on backyard footage, etc.). Location, date/time and transaction details provided by POS units can be embedded in the MPEG-4 data as text. This information can then be displayed during playback. Also, daily time synchronisation means that the transaction data stored by the digital recorder can be reliably matched with camera footage to identify events.

Building Management Solutions
There is an increasing demand for the efficient management of large multi-purpose buildings, offices, and residential blocks without having to invest in extra labor. In particular, owners require centralised monitoring to protect against crime, fire and other emergencies. Mitsubishi Electric can offer a reliable and cost-effective way to achieve this using PC software for the simultaneous control and monitoring of a large number of cameras using multiple digital recorders connected via LAN.
